Dubai Municipality to construct $6m crocodile park


Dubai Municipality will construct a $5.9m (AED22m) crocodile park in the Emirate, with the project’s construction contract already handed out to a firm, it has been revealed.

The 2ha (20,000sqm) park is due for completion in 14 months, and will be situated 10km away from Dubai International Airport.

Preparation works to begin construction will commence on-site in September 2015.

The name of the contracted firm has not been revealed.

The crocodile park will resemble those found in France with a habitat that is as natural as possible, local daily Gulf News reported.

Obaid Ebrahim Al Marzouqi, head of administrative services at Dubai Municipality, said that the park with provide the crocodiles healthy living conditions and constant care.

Al Marzouqi said that the project will be 10km away from Dubai International Airport, making it accessible for both tourists and residents upon completion.

He added that all the logistics relating to the construction of the park will be environmentally friendly by using renewable energy and waste treatment keeping in mind the architectural characteristics of the area.

The park will be in close proximity to Mushrif Park, which will integrate residential areas such as Al Muhaisina, Al Mizhar one and two, Mirdif and Al Warqa’a, the report added.
