Deals signed for 15 municipal projects worth SR800m


The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs (MOMRA) has signed agreements for 15 projects worth a total of SR 800 million to be carried out in various municipalities in the Kingdom.

The agreements for the construction of these projects were signed by the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, Engineer Abdul Latif bin Abdul Malek Al-Shaikh for SR846,965,067, to ward off the dangers of flooding, as well as to set up parks, apply asphalt on streets, repair and build bridges, and to support a range of environmental and other construction programs.In the Eastern region, the project will include building a new complex for the Hafr Al-Batan governorate, the rehabilitation of control systems, and the implementation of multiple waste water collection and disposal units at a cost of SR123.8 million.

In the Al-Qassim region, the project will aim to streamline all drainage water to avoid floods at a cost of SR313,827,977, while the project in Asir will involve the construction of new bridges costing SR73,931,077.

In Jazan, bridge and tunnel projects will also feature, and will cost a total of SR 255 483 037. A number of waste water and disposal systems in the region will also be renovated as part of the project.

In Najran, the first phase of the flood prevention project will entail a cost of SR 79,922,976.

Following the signing of these agreements, the minister said that these projects are intended to improve the local government services provided to citizens to ensure their security, safety and welfare.
